During stock market uptrends, stocks may find support within a price range from their prior uptrend that featured heavy institutional demand.

This price range is known as a Prior Demand Week (PDW).  A PDW is usually the heaviest volume accumulation week from the prior uptrend.

Many base troughs are anchored within a PDW.

Identifying a PDW can help you anticipate where a stock may bottom and begin to form the right-hand side of its base.
